Design and Technology Teacher

MPS/UPS - Full/Part Time – Permanent

Start date: September 2025

The Hemel Hempstead School seeks an enthusiastic and inspirational Design & Technology Teacher to teach across the age and ability range. This opportunity is open to experienced qualified teachers and early career teachers. The Hemel Hempstead School offers the successful candidate an inspiring and rewarding role and an exciting opportunity to be a part of a every growing department with a new purpose-built facility and brand new equipment from Easter this year.

 

We offer an innovative induction and professional development programme, recognising that our staff are the key to our success. You will benefit from supportive colleagues, enthusiastic students and excellent facilities and resources. Students are introduced to a wide range of skills within the subject including: Food Technology, Textiles, Resistant Materials, Graphics and CAD/CAM. Students are able to choose from a variety of subjects at Key Stage 4 and 5.

 

A successful candidate will have experience in teaching a variety of areas across the subject, ideally with a specialism in Product Design, Graphics & CAD/CAM or Resistant Materials. The ability to teach Food, Textiles and Health & Social Care would be advantageous but not essential.

 

The Hemel Hempstead School is a popular and oversubscribed school on a beautiful site in the Boxmoor area. The school is close to local and national rail, bus and road links to London. Our Ofsted inspection in 2021 praised the school, especially “your values of Responsibility, Respect, Relationships, Reflection and Resilience being at the heart of the atmosphere at The Hemel Hempstead School. You prepare pupils to be courteous, considerate and capable young people, ready for the adult world.’ We are an expanding school, with 217 students in each year group and over 250 students in the Sixth Form. Our facilities are excellent with world-class sporting facilities, a brand-new music, languages and science centre and plans for further improvements across the site. In September 2025 we will have a brand-new school building which will house brand new facilities for Art, Design and Technology. The school is part of Scholars’ Education Trust.
