School Council
The School Council is elected every October and is a very important part of the process to encourage leadership and responsibility in our Sixth Form students. All students in Years 7 to 13 are entitled to vote. The elections follow the General Election pattern with hustings in assemblies, promotional material, voter registration and a ballot.
Each House has a House Council consisting of two members from each form. The House Council is chaired by a Year 13 student from that House. Matters arising from House Council meetings are then taken to School Council for further discussion and action.
Meetings are chaired by an elected Chair. Members of the Leadership Team are there to answer queries and to carry any resolutions back to Leadership Team meetings for discussion. The School Council has an annual budget of £500 to be spent as it decides, provided it results in improvements to the School.
The School Council voices student concerns and thoughts, responds on behalf of the student body to consultations on policies and issues of direct relevance to students, and acts as an interview panel on key staff appointments.
